2 Gun is a shooting competition that tests participants' proficiency with Rifle and Pistol. Engage in a series of new dynamic shooting scenarios every month, where you can test and improve your proficiency, speed, and accuracy, and learn from others.

Scored by Hit Factor, participants will be awarded points for their placement in each match. There are 6 regular season matches to qualify for the final match on October 11th. The sum of your score for your highest 3 matches will determine your season points. The top 32 shooters will receive early access to sign up for a spectator-friendly, elimination-style event to determine the season winner.

Match Dates:

Matches are typically held on the first Sunday of the month.

Registration opens 2 weeks before the match at noon CST.

In 2026 matches will run from April through October:

  • April 5
  • May 3
  • June 7
  • July 5
  • August 2
  • September 6
  • October 11 (Championship Match)

How to Participate:

What to Expect:

  • Challenging Scenarios: Experience a variety of demanding scenarios that test your physical handling proficiency, shooting skills, movement through an environment, and decision-making abilities under pressure.
  • Friendly Competition: Compete in a friendly and supportive environment, where participants encourage each other to perform their best.
  • Safety First: Our event prioritizes safety. All participants must adhere to strict safety regulations, ensuring a secure and enjoyable experience for all.
  • Networking: Connect with fellow shooting enthusiasts, share tips, and expand your network within the shooting community.
  • Help: Your match fee directly funds the range, targets, and improvements; as this event is run entirely by dedicated volunteers, we strongly encourage you to help us with stage setup and tear-down if you are able.

New and Less Experienced Shooters:

  • If this is your first time at an event like this, please inform your Range Officer (RO). This will allow them to avoid putting you first and ensure you receive any necessary additional instruction or feedback throughout the day.
  • We welcome competitors of all experience levels and encourage everyone to compete at a challenging and appropriate pace. We strive to maintain a supportive environment for high-pressure competition.

Spectators:

  • If you aren’t ready to compete but want to get a better idea of what 2Gun is about, you are welcome to come spectate a match.
  • Participants can also bring guests.
  • If you're not registered and wish to spectate, please email the Match Director for details.

Safety First:

  • Safety Briefing: Mandatory for all participants, immediately after stage building is complete.
  • Everyone is a Safety Officer: Report any safety concerns loudly and immediately.
  • Cold Range: Throughout the event, the east side of the range will be treated as a cold range. This means that all firearms must remain unloaded unless under the direct supervision of an RO.
  • Chamber Flag: Rifles must use a chamber flag when not in use. If you do not have one, they are available in the vending machines of the west side building.
  • Wear Protection: Eye and ear protection is mandatory after the safety briefing, even for spectators.

Preparation:

  • Be prepared for the weather. It may be muddy, rainy, cold/hot, or windy. We will only stop a competition for lightning or when the wind is so strong you can’t keep cardboard targets up
  • Competition can last up to 6 hours; bring extra layers, water, and snacks.

Range Etiquette:

  • Respect: Show respect to fellow competitors, Range Officers, and spectators.
  • Help our Staff: As this event relies completely on volunteers, please arrive early to assist with setup and plan to stay late to help clean up and return all props to their designated storage areas.
  • Collecting Brass: You are welcome to collect brass, once the entire match is complete and stages props are all returned to their proper storage place.

Disqualification:

  • Participants can be disqualified for:
    • Any unsafe or improper behavior as determined by a Range Officer.
    • Violating the 180-degree plane with the muzzle.
    • Disregarding range commands.
    • Unsafe firearm handling.
    • Shooting the ‘pistol only’ steel targets with your rifle.
    • Losing control of your firearm.

RULES:

  • Both firearms will be utilized in every stage, with a maximum engagement distance of 200 yards. The smallest target expected is 4 MOA.

  • Firearm innovation is driven by the competition community. We permit any attachments and modifications, and we do not use match divisions. Throughout the match, shooters are required to use the same rifle and pistol, and both firearms must remain in the same configuration. In the event either firearm becomes inoperable, you can use a backup or get an RO’s approval to bring your firearm to a safe table for inspection and repair.

  • Firearms:
    • Modifications: No limits on modifications.
    • Magazines: No limits on capacity or modifications.
    • Firearm configuration must stay the same during the entire match.
      • This rule also applies to: QD magnifiers, bipods, and/or slings.
      • In the event either firearm becomes inoperable, you can use a backup or get an RO’s approval to bring your firearm to a safe table for inspection and repair.
  • Holsters:
    • Must use a holster suitable for reliable retention during vigorous movement, such as running and jumping.
    • No nylon or soft holsters are permitted.
    • If utilizing a 'race holster,' it must fully cover the trigger guard and demonstrate absolute reliability in retaining the firearm securely during vigorous movement, such as running and jumping.
    • If your pistol falls out of the holster at any time during the match, it is a match disqualification. We recommend you properly torque your holster hardware with threadlocker.
  • Ammunition:
    • We recommend bringing at least 150 rounds of both pistol and rifle ammo.
    • Power Factor: No specific requirements; participants can use their preferred ammunition.
    • ❌No steel core or penetrating ammo on steel targets (ex: M855/SS109).
    • ❌No tracer ammunition.

SCORING:

  • Hit Factor: Shooters earn points for impacting targets. Their performance on each stage is measured by their 'hit factor,' which is (total points earned) divided by (time taken to complete the stage). The shooter with the highest hit factor wins the stage and receives the full amount of points they earned. All other shooters receive a percentage of those points based on how their hit factor compares to the stage winner's. The match winner is determined by the total number of points accumulated across all four stages.
  • Time Limits: All stages have 90-second par times, unless otherwise noted.
  • Penalties: Fault Line and Stage Brief Violations
    • Every shot taken while stepping outside a fault line incurs a 10-point penalty
    • Violating stage brief (eg: target is required to be engaged in a specific manner, but was not) will incur 10-point procedural penalties per counted offense.
  • Stage Briefs take precedent
    • If there is a conflict between these rules and the stage brief, the stage brief rules override these.
  • Keyholed Shots
    • Hits that are "keyholed", meaning the projectile struck an object before hitting the target and passed through sideways, will not be counted.
  • Acts of Nature
    • If an act of nature, like wind, causes a target to fall and no longer be shootable, the run should be halted and fixed so the shooter can reshoot the stage as intended.
    • Reshoots are generally never permitted for mechanical issues with equipment maintained by the shooter. However, the final decision rests with the Range Officers and the Match Director.
  • Steel Targets
    • If a participant hits a falling steel target twice and it doesn’t fall, it is still counted as neutralized but must be called by the Range Officer.
    • If a steel target activates another target, the steel target must fall to be counted.
  • Beginning a Stage with Pistol
    • Shooters should keep their wrists below the belt, ensuring they don't unfairly contact the pistol grip with their hand.

PRSRimfire

ASC is proud to be partnering with the Precision Rifle Series for 2026.

The PRS Rimfire Series is both a regional and club-level series formed by Rimfire MD’s, shooters, and our partners.

By incorporating the visions of the PRS shooters, match directors, and sponsors we strive to achieve competitive excellence in the PRS Rimfire Series and cultivate opportunities for shooters at every level. Precision rimfire is an affordable way for people to enjoy competitive shooting. The PRS is committed to its development, potential, and evolution.

In keeping with PRS tradition and the outlaw nature of our sport, each PRS rimfire match will be run differently, focus on different fundamentals, and include a vast number of stressors, no two PRS matches are the same! This provides for regional variances that are unique and very challenging.

PRS MD’s will always have the freedom to plan and execute courses of fire they feel best captures the core principles of PRS rimfire competitions.

The PRS will not dictate to MD’s how they run their COF’s. The PRS believes that the competitors should make the determination of the quality of a match and should provide appropriate feedback to the MD as well as the PRS when necessary.

Typical COF:
The course of fire will be 7-10 stages. 70-120+ rounds of 22LR engaging steel targets from 25 to 400 yards. There is a good mix between prone, barricade and positional stages. Steel targets sized from 1/4" to 8" depending on the stage description.
