Cowboy Action Shooting Match (Ranges E2-E4)

Cowboy Action Shooting Match
Kishwaukee Valley Regulators (SASS affiliated club)

2025 Event Dates:
April 6
May 4
June 1
July 6
August 3
September 7
October 5
November 2

Participants drive to the east-side ranges on the rifle pistol range at 7641 Rueff Road, Waterman, IL 60556.

Gates open at 8:00 a.m. Contestants gather for a briefing at 8:45 and shooting starts at 9:00.

Contestants use firearms typical of those from the taming of the Old West: single action revolvers, pistol caliber lever action rifles, and old-time shotguns. There are 5-6 stages set up in unique "Old West" style. Stage scenarios feature an array of situations, many based on famous incidents or movie scenes, in which shooters test their skills against steel targets.
Beginners, experts, members, non-members, spectators and curious people are all welcome. Hearing protection and eye protection with side shields are required for participants and spectators.

Everyone tries their best to dress the part and respect the traditions of the Old West. Some folks would call it good sportsmanship. We call it "The Spirit of the Game."
Matches are held according to Single Action Shooting Society rules.

Walk-ins are welcome. Fees: $15 per adult shooter, $10 for "Young Guns" ages 14 thru 16. "Buckaroos" under age 13 shoot free (Buckaroos must have .22 caliber pistols and rifles, 410 gauge shotguns.) There is no fee for spectators. All fee's can be paid on date of matches.

3 Gun (Ranges E5 through E10)

ASC 3 Gun will start the season in April with a train up day, and then have matches throughout the season.

Train up day is designed for anyone who would like to practice on the east bays, drawing from the holster, moving and shooting, and practicing different objects one would typically see in a 3 gun match. We encourage all to bring out someone who is new or who has shown interest in shooting 3 gun to help grow the sport.

Matches will have a full day schedule with 5-6 stages each match.

Set up is all volunteer work the day prior to each match starting at 12 noon. Please help with setup to keep our matches complex and entertaining.

  • E9 will be Barricade Practice with Rifles only.
  • TASC may open the Shoot House to Dry Fire CQB runs. No Ammunition will be used for that bay.

Format:

  • We will begin with a Safety Brief, and then move into areas where we practice using our handheld and WML’s in full light conditions. As lighting fades we will pivot to an open format where attendees can move to the range bay that they are most interested in spending time on, and similar to Zombie Shoot, line up to run the stage, or participate in the drills taking place at that bay.
    • All attendees must be at the safety brief at 6 pm. NO EXCEPTIONS TO THE SAFETY BRIEF. If you miss the safety Brief you will not shoot the night event and will be spectating.
