  • $10 Fee. Open to Members and their guests over the age of 18. Be advised, if you are NOT and ASC member you must be accompanied by an ASC member as their guest.
    • This will not be a youth friendly event due to the complexity of low/no light. If you have questions please call Kris Kline at 815-440-4452.
  • Night Shoot will be run by the ASC Action Shooting Sports teams of Practical Rifle, IDPA, 2 Gun, and TASC volunteering their time to make this event possible.
  • Limited to 60 Registrations to ensure safety.
  • All attendees must be at the safety brief at 5 pm. NO EXCEPTIONS TO THE SAFETY BRIEF. If you miss the safety Brief you will not shoot the night event and will be spectating.
  • Pistols Allowed: All non-magnum pistols using either Handheld and/or Weapon Mounted lights are allowed.
    • If you have a Weapon Mounted Light you SHOULD also have a handheld light. Do not show up with only a Weapon Mounted Light. A Handheld light is the only requirement.
  • Rifles Allowed: AR and AK style rifles. Weapon Mounted Lights are Required for all Rifles. Rifle Caliber limited to 5.56/223, 300 Blackout, and 7.62X39.
    • No 308, 30-06, or larger calibers (We will be shooting steel as close as 50 yards with rifles).

  • This will be a cold range. Your firearms will remain unloaded and clear at all times unless instructed by an RO at the stage you are working with. If you are moving from stage to stage you will unload and show clear with an RO BEFORE you move to another area, and you will not reload unless an RO instructs you. That includes you will NOT place loaded magazines into your pistol outside of the RO telling you to "load and make ready".

Range Bay Assignments: (These may adjust for each event as we staff with volunteers)

  • E7 will be our IDPA team setting up a typical stage
  • E8 will be a dueling pistol steel stage.
  • E9 will be PR team setting up a typical stage
  • E10 will be TASC instructors with rifle targets setup from 50 to 200 yards
  • Shoot House will be TASC instructors providing CQC coaching with rifle or pistol.

Format:

  • We will begin with a Safety Brief, and then move into areas where we practice using our handheld and WML’s in full light conditions. As lighting fades we will pivot to an open format where attendees can move to the range bay that they are most interested in spending time on, and similar to Zombie Shoot sign up onto the list to either run the stage, or participate in the drills taking place at that bay.
    • All attendees must be at the safety brief. NO EXCEPTIONS TO THE SAFETY BRIEF. If you miss the safety Brief you will not shoot the night event and will be spectating.

THIS WILL BE A COLD RANGE UNLESS INSTRUCTED BY AN RO. DO NOT MOVE BETWEEN BAYS WITH LOADED FIREARMS. Do not have magazines in those firearms either unless you are instructed to "Load and Make Ready".

ASC Practical Rifle is an action rifle match intended for skills development and casual competition, with a relaxed atmosphere and a lot of fun! This is an opportunity to get your rifle "off the bench" and challenge your marksmanship skills while developing new skills most shooters can't practice on a range.

Participants will face new scenarios each month, with two short-range engagement stages, and one medium range engagement stage at either 100 or 200 yards. Shooters will be "scored" based on stage time plus penalties.

Shooters should bring a semi-automatic rifle and plan on firing up to 150 rounds. Up to 4 magazines may be utilized on a single stage, and your favorite mag retention system is encouraged. We do not impose limitations on firearms or ammunition; all calibers and legal equipment is welcome. Optics are shooters choice, iron sights, red-dots, and magnified optics are all welcome. Practical Rifle is a great opportunity to gain experience with all your gear!

Whether pre-registered or on-site registered, you must be present for CHECK-IN* AT LEAST 15 minutes before the published start time. Shooters not present for check-in will forfeit their spot. Check-In occurs at the Registration desk on the East Side Bays.
AT 15 MINUTES BEFORE THE PUBLISHED START TIME, we will start promptly with a Roll Call followed by a Safety Brief. Immediately following the Safety Brief, squads will walk to their start stage. All shooters must have event gear ready and in their possession before the Safety Brief begins.

* 'CHECK-IN' means you are confirmed present with the registration table. If you are late, we will assign your spot to someone who arrived on time and you will be added to the bottom of the 'Space-Available Signup Sheet'. Everyone must be at the safety brief in order to participate.

PRACTICAL SHOOTING FUNDAMENTALS

This is the flagship class. We work on fundamental USPSA skills and apply them in a stage environment. We shoot a mix of drills and stages.

We also work on hitting small targets, moving around through stages, and breaking down stages. Don’t let the “Fundamentals” in the title for this class mislead you. This isn’t a class for new shooters. This is geared towards people that already shoot USPSA, understand scoring and safety rules, and want to improve.

Students should leave class with an idea about how to dry practice more efficiently and how to improve the foundation skills for USPSA.

PRACTICAL SHOOTING SKILLS AND DRILLS

This is a "how to train" class. Whatever level you are at, at the end of the class you should have a good idea of how to get to the next level. We work through a variety of drills from "Skills and Drills" and shoot stages.

This class features difficult scenario style drills and very little fundamental practice. The emphasis in this class is on learning how to do live fire practice sessions.

This is a class that is best done with a smaller group. I also strongly recommend that you have done a Fundamentals class before moving on to this one.
