East Side Classroom
This TASC extension class is available to all ASC members.
This class will discuss how to read an MGRS/UTM map including its features, markings, calculating distances, declination, using a compass and protractor, generating a pace count, and using terrain features to locate yourself on the map.
The required equipment list for the class is:
-A Compass (baseplate or lensatic) and protractor. Buy a good one, and you won't be sorry.
-Pencil (mechanical if you have one)
-Fine tip dry or wet erase marker
-Good boots - gym shoes may get messed up
-Notebook (write in the rain preferred)

Purpose:
Patrolling 1 provides baseline competency in individual fieldcraft and observational skills required for safe and effective patrolling operations. This course serves as the foundational prerequisite for all subsequent patrolling, reconnaissance, and small-unit movement courses within the program. There is no prerequisite for this course, however, prior training with TASC is preferred.
There will be a Patrolling 2 which will cover the basics of Urban patrolling.

TASC is for ASC MEMBERS ONLY. You MUST bring your member badge to participate.
This is the mandatory gear clinic for the ASC TASC program for the year 2026. If you have already taken this clinic, there is no need to re-take it. In the clinic, we will go over gear selection, setup, optional items, and gear that will not be allowed. You can NOT participate in the intro class unless you have attended this session.
Bring any gear you have questions about, and we'll help you get it configured properly.
Gear Clinic will start student check in at 8:45 am with class starting at 9 am and finishing around 1 pm. Location is the East Side Range Building Lounge. Do not show up late. You will be turned away if you are late.

Classes are ONLY OPEN TO CLUB MEMBERS WHO HAVE COMPLETED PrerequisitesThe purpose of T.A.S.C. is skills development, not competition. The focus of T.A.S.C. will be the introduction, development, and practice of skills that would be applicable in self-defense situations. Shoot, Move, Communicate.Each event starts with a discussion of the skills and techniques that will be explored that day, followed by dry fire and individual skills based breakdown sessions. Each event will culminate with the application of the days work being applied to potential real-world scenarios.2026 Dates:
